Dark circles can have several causes, including inherited pigmentation, visible blood vessels through thin skin, shadows created by facial anatomy, or changes associated with tiredness and ageing. Puffiness and hollowing can also create shadows that look like discolouration. Because these causes differ, no single eye cream or procedure can be expected to help everyone.
At Bavary Clinic, the first step is to consider what may be contributing to the appearance of the under-eye area. Selected eye treatments or skin-quality procedures may be discussed when appropriate, but some concerns are primarily anatomical and may not respond well to a cosmetic skin treatment. New, sudden or persistent changes should be assessed medically when indicated.
Home care should be gentle around the eyes. A moisturiser or eye product that is well tolerated may support comfort, while sun protection can help limit worsening of pigment-related concerns. Avoid applying strong exfoliants or retinoids too close to the eyes unless the product is specifically intended for that area and suitable for you.
The under-eye area is delicate, and treatments near the eyes require careful selection and a clear explanation of potential risks. Your practitioner can discuss what may realistically improve, what is unlikely to change and whether another form of assessment would be more appropriate.
